The information fell: River City Girls 2 is coming to Europe next week on December 15. If it was supposed to be released a few days ago (and has actually been released in Asia), its developers have brooded it a little longer to allow it to be released with all the features they had planned for the game. promises of a “real” sequel with an extended gaming experience, not a disguised DLC.
Break out your baseball bats, polish your brass knuckles, and start practicing your dabs – River City Girls 2 launches digitally in North America and Europe on Dec. 15! That’s next week!! Coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and Steam! https://t.co/rEFAnGVT0j pic.twitter.com/gjuqzBSONv

The game will feature six playable characters. We will of course find the (anti) heroines Misako and Kyoko as well as their (imaginary?) boyfriends Kunio and Riki, already present in the first game. The quartet will be joined by Marian (from Double Dragon) and Provie (from River City Ransom: Underground). Recall that River City Girls is a spin-off of the River City Ransom series, classic beat’em all of the 8-bit era, signed Yoshihisa Kishimoto, then creator of Double Dragon. These two new characters therefore continue the homage paid by the first game.
River City Girls 2 will also offer a map that is intended to be “massive and non-linear”, with an evolution of the characters “style RPG”. We therefore see a nice evolution of the classic gameplay (but devilishly fun) of the first episode. We will find the pixel art that made the charm of the first game, the manga-style cutscenes fully dubbed in English or Japanese by the same team, still led by Cristina Vee (the voice of Shantae), a soundtrack between garage and tangy electro composed by Megan McDuffee (already available) and WayForward’s inimitable artistic direction.
And for the occasion, know that River City Girls, the first game, is currently available in full and free for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers! The opportunity to discover the license if it had escaped you… River City Girls 2 will be playable for two locally or online, and will be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Switch and PC on December 15th.
