Polar has unveiled its Ignite 3 watch, a dual-band GPS watch designed to better track your activity during the day, in relation to the quality of sleep at night.
Whether Garmin multiplies the launches of sports connected watches this year, it is also the case of Polar. The Finnish manufacturer, after having launched two new watches specially designed for running in the spring, the pacer and Pacer Propresented this Wednesday his new connected watch more fitness oriented and lifestyle, Polar Ignite 3.
Unsurprisingly, this watch therefore succeeds Polar’s previous fitness model, the Ignite 2, launched in the summer of 2021. It therefore takes up the rather compact size of the previous version, with 35 grams on the scale, but expands not only of well-felt software functions, but also of several hardware advantages.
The Polar Ignite 3 is thus equipped with a 1.2 inch Amoled touch screen. Unlike the Ignite 2, the Ignite 3 also does not see the bottom of its screen cut by a large Polar logo, which is integrated into the borders around the slab. Above all, the screen switches to AMOLED, with a higher contrast rate and a brighter display than the LCD used on the Ignite 2. Note also that Polar has added Gorilla Glass 3 screen protection. to best protect it against scratches. Finally, the screen also benefits from the use of AMOLED technology to integrate a mode always-on that won’t confuse traditional smartwatch users.
Regarding the various on-board sensors, the Ignite 3 is obviously equipped with a heart rate monitor that is also compatible with the measurement of SpO2. The watch also benefits from a new processor announced as twice as fast as that of the Ignite 2 to ensure better fluidity in touch navigation. The watch finally benefits from a rather surprising novelty for a fitness-oriented model: a dual-band GPS. Polar indicates, however, that the use of this L1 + L5 system compensates for the small size of the antennas due to the small format of the watch in order to still ensure good GNSS precision in complicated situations.
A watch meant to accompany your days
For daily health and fitness measurements, the Ignite 3 will be the first watch from the manufacturer to integrate the new SleepWise function. This aims to provide more detail on your different sleep phases and your circadian rhythm in order to assess your level of alertness during the day. This function will then make its arrival on the Ignite 2 thanks to an update. The Polar Ignite 3 will also include a voice guidance system during training as well as the monitoring of more than 150 sports.
Autonomy is announced by the Finnish manufacturer as being up to five days on a single charge, 100 hours in energy saving mode and 30 hours with GPS training monitoring.
The Polar Ignite 3 is available this Wednesday. It is offered in France in four colors – black, purple, gray and copper – at a price of 329.90 euros. A price that therefore positions it slightly above the Polar Pacer Pro announced last May at 299 euros.
