Even though his team is in the midst of a three-game losing streak, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is optimistic for the future.
The Wisconsin squad was upset 23-21 by the Washington Commanders last Sunday and holds a 3-4 record. The Packers won’t have an easy job this week as they visit the Buffalo Bills. This team is considered one of the best in the NFL so far in 2022.
“I don’t worry about our club. In fact, it might have been the best thing that could have happened to us,” Rodgers said, as reported by ESPN.
“This week, nobody will give us a chance to win in Buffalo. It might be the best thing for us.”
Rodgers’ recent attitude contrasts with the one he showed at the start of the season, when he allowed himself to criticize his young receivers.
Against the Commanders, the recipient of the last two NFL MVP titles completed 24 of 35 passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns. It was his second game under 200 yards this season, having never broken the 260 yard mark.
A special brand within the reach of Brandin Cooks
The name of Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks is once again at the heart of trade rumors.
On Sunday, the NFL Network learned that manager Nick Caserio was getting a lot of calls about the 29-year-old veteran.
If Cooks is traded in 2022, it will be the fourth time he has been involved in a trade since playing in the NFL. He would tie the home run record held by former running back Eric Dickerson.
Cooks began his career with the New Orleans Saints in 2014. That team sent him to the New England Patriots in March 2017. Just over a year later, the “Pats” signed him. traded to the Los Angeles Rams. He played two campaigns with the Californian club, before being traded to the Texans in April 2010.
This year, the Oregon State product is having a slightly more difficult start to the season. He caught 28 of 47 passes his way for 281 yards and just one touchdown.
Cooks previously had six 1,000+ yard seasons.
Very bad news for the Jets
New York Jets running back Breece Hall’s season is over after suffering a torn ligament in his knee.
This is what the NFL Network learned on Monday.
The freshman was injured the day before in a 16-9 win over the Denver Broncos. He had amassed 72 yards and a touchdown on just four carries before being knocked out.
Hall had a good first season with 391 yards and three majors in seven games. He is also the Jets’ third-highest yardage rusher (218) via catches. The Iowa State product was selected in the second round (36th overall) of the last NFL draft.
To make up for the loss of Hall, the Jets made a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The New York club got running back James Robinson in return for a conditional sixth-round pick.
The 24-year-old running back had 340 yards and three majors on 81 carries this season with the Jags. Sophomore Michael Carter is also expected to take on some of the responsibilities Hall had in the Jets’ backfield by the end of the season.
