In addition to a new design, the 10th generation iPad welcomes an improved photo module. It thus goes from 8 to 12 megapixels and takes over the sensor of the iPad Air 4 and 5.
Main module: 12 MP, f/1.8
The move to a more defined sensor can be seen clearly when comparing to last year’s model. The snapshot is more detailed, has better colorimetry and, above all, the software smoothing is much less marked. Exposure remains generally the same, one of Apple’s strengths.
Same thing in low light. If the image is not really usable, there is better exposure, less smoothing, and reduced digital noise.
Front and video module
At the front, the iPad 2022 takes up the front module of the iPad 2021. But the biggest novelty lies in the placement of this camera which is no longer accessible when the tablet is held vertically, but at the horizontal. An ideal location for FaceTime and other video calls, especially since the iPad has never been so good at this exercise since the arrival of Center Stage. As for the quality of the selfies, it is identical to that of last year. It is more than correct and will be perfect for those who venture into self-portraiture using a tablet.
In video, the device is now capable of filming up to 4K at 60 fps. A big improvement over the previous model which, remember, could only shoot in 1080p at 30 fps.
