Apple Is Working On Homemade MicroLED Displays: A Tech Push To Boost Profits And Improve Product Quality

According to analysts and some media, Apple is expected to introduce micro-LED displays in its future products, starting with theAppleWatch Second-generation Ultra, scheduled for release in late Q3 2024.

Micro-LED displays use extremely small light-emitting diodes (LEDs) for the backlight used by the display, which results in more accurate colors, darker blacks, and better contrast. Apple acquired micro-LED maker LuxVue in 2014, but the company is not expected to be involved in the full manufacturing process of micro-LED components, which is why LG Display is building a small line of assembly for the production of micro-LEDs which will start in the second half of 2024.
