Apple has added support for a whole new batch of controllers to its iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple TVs. Among them, the Bluetooth reissues of the Super Nintendo, NES and Nintendo 64 controllers.
Pleasant surprise that the one reserved by Apple for holders of vintage Nintendo controllers. The firm has indeed added to its iPhoneiPad, Mac and AppleTV support for additional controllers, including several Nintendo-branded Bluetooth models. Among the models supported since the wave of updates yesterday, the Bluetooth reissues (dedicated to the Switch) of the Super Nintendo, NES, but also Nintendo 64 controllers.
Some models from other brands are also added to support, such as the Sega Genesis controller. And diving into the code of iOS 16, 9to5Mac was also able to see that the same is true for 8Bitdo controllers, BADA MOGA XP5-X Plus, or for the Logitech F710 Gamepad, which is also supported.
Everything you need to enjoy Apple Arcade the way you want!
The addition of these many controllers to the support is part of Apple’s effort to make as many controllers as possible compatible with its products. A policy not entirely disinterested since the firm does not have its own controller to accompany its Apple Arcade subscription. Apple therefore has every interest in ensuring that controllers from Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, or those of third-party accessories are fully compatible with its products.
Neat, iOS/tvOS 16.1 support the official BT/USB-C Super Nintendo controller for the Switch 😄 I don’t have the N64 or NES versions to test with, but I believe they are supported now too 🎮 pic.twitter.com/mfkTIHpXun

A few weeks ago, the Cupertino giant had already added support for Nintendo’s Joy-Con and Pro Controller to iOS 16. Finally, note that it has already been possible for a long time to connect a Sony Dualshock 4 via Bluetooth (which can also be purchased directly from the Apple Store), an Xbox controller, or the SteelSeries Nimbus + or Rotor Riot controllers. , to recite nobody else but them.
