CAF gives reasons for the withdrawal of the organization to Guinea

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), through its president, Patrice Motsepe, justified the withdrawal of the organization of CAN 2025 from Guinea.

For the governing body of African football, despite the efforts made by the Guinean authorities, the country of Naby Keita is not able to organize the African Cup of Nations in 2025.

“Due to the lack of infrastructure and facilities in Guinea capable of hosting a world-class Africa Cup of Nations. I went to Guinea today (Friday, editor’s note) out of respect for the Guinean people. I wanted to discuss CAF’s willingness to advise and work with football stakeholders to build and build sports infrastructure and facilities in this country. Guinea will be able to apply with other competing nations for the organization of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) which will take place after the edition in Algeria, given the decision of CAF not to organize the CAN TotalEnergies 2025 in Guinea »said Motsepe.

As a reminder, the CAF Executive Committee will reopen the application process for the organization of the competition.
