Cristiano Ronaldo’s status as king of the gym at Man United is threatened by Casermiro

Cristiano Ronaldo’s status as Manchester United’s king of the gym is under threat after the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was beaten to the leg press in training.

Cristiano Ronaldo is in danger of losing his status as king of the gym at Manchester United following the arrival of Casemiro from Real Madrid.

The Portuguese superstar has been considered the Red Devils’ ‘strong man’ since returning to the club from Juventus last summer. He would be able to press legs up to 250 kg.

But Ronaldo, who is known for doing 30 reps at a time, is being forced to up his game after Casemiro showed him in the gym that he can press legs up to 300kg. The Brazilian would impress his new teammates with his stunts.

After making the leap to Old Trafford in August, the 30-year-old shocked them with his ability to beat former Real Madrid team-mate Ronaldo on the leg press.

A source at the club told the Daily Star: “Ronny takes great pride in his physical form and the muscularity of his legs – few can come close to the amount and weight he can handle. He’s not one to do the bench press, Ronny is a man of legs, but he seems to have found his happiness with Casemiro – he’s not the tallest in the world but he’s strong as a beef and can push 300 kg with his eyes closed”.

While Ronaldo became known for his physical ability, Casemiro also built a reputation for his fitness and strength at Real Madrid and regularly tested himself against his teammates. However, former Whites doctor Jesus Olmo has revealed Gareth Bale is the best athlete he’s seen at the club – rather than Casemiro or Ronaldo.

The Welshman joined Los Blancos in 2013 from Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of around £85million, becoming the biggest transfer in the world at the time, ahead of Ronaldo. Bale, who signed a six-year deal in the Spanish capital, saw his record smashed by Paul Pogba following his £89m move to Manchester United in 2016.

Having worked with Bale, Olmo opened up on how the Wales international could excel in any sport and admitted he’s impressive in almost every way. Much has been said about Bale’s love of golf, having spent a lot of time on the course for the past two years.

The former Los Blancos doctor told Ideal in 2020: “Bale is possibly the best athlete I’ve ever seen. Gareth Bale is a natural athlete who can excel in virtually any sport. He has incredible athletic skills, and I would say technical skills as well. It’s the one that impressed me the most on all levels. »
