Sony may have just leaked some very important information regarding one of the next flagship titles in the Final Fantasy franchise. Final Fantasy 16 would only be a PlayStation 5 exclusive for six months.
We know from its revelation that Final Fantasy XVI will be a PS5 console exclusive when it launches in the summer of 2023. However, we weren’t told how long that period of exclusivity would last, at least until now. Indeed, a new marketing montage from PlayStation previewing the upcoming action-RPG has just revealed more.
In fact, the trailer PS5 “Play Like Never Before” reveals after 15 seconds an excerpt from the game, under which is noted that the title will be exclusive to Sony’s latest console for a period of 6 months. So fans won’t have to wait long before they can enjoy the game on other platforms.
Final Fantasy 16 will soon be released on other platforms
A 6 month exclusivity period on PS5 means that the game will be available on other platforms in early 2024. Previously, Square Enix itself had accidentally indicated that a PC version of the next RPG was in the works, and we therefore imagine that it will arrive early next year. The game is also expected to be available at the same time on Xbox Series X and S.
As a reminder, there was a year and a half gap between the launch of Final Fantasy 15 on console and PC, and a similar delay was seen between the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake on PS4 and PC on the Epic Game Store. The rapid release of the next title on other platforms is therefore excellent news for fans of the series.
Anyway, during an interview with Famitsu, Final Fantasy 16 lead director Hiroshi Takai was asked about the current status of the legendary franchise’s latest installment. He stated that the team had completed development at ” about 95% “. We should therefore quickly know more about it.
In the meantime, we suggest you go watch the first trailer of the gamewhich was unveiled two years ago, in September 2022.
