Koulibaly’s unlikely anecdote about his Napoli adventure with Sarri

In an interview, the former Napoli defender recounted the bad blow that Maurizio Sarri did to him when he was his coach.

Asked by colinterview, Kalidou Koulibaly, now at Chelsea, returned to his adventure at Napoli by telling a great anecdote about the birth of his son and Maurizio Sarri (Napoli coach from 2015 to 2018).

The very day of a match, the Senegalese defender learns some happy news. “My wife calls me and says come quickly I’m going to give birth. I go to see the coach (Maurizio Sarri) and I tell him that my wife is giving birth and I absolutely have to go. He says NO, NO, you’re not going. What do I say ! You’re gonna kill my plans, you were supposed to play tonight, how am I doing now. »

Finally, the Italian technician accepts on condition that the new dad comes back to play the evening match. Kalidou Koulibaly did not think long and joined his wife. He returns to the Blues camp a few hours later with lots of photos of his baby. But he will quickly become disillusioned when he sees the starting eleven of the evening.

“He is really crazy”

I come back very happy with photos of my son… we go to a pre-match meeting, he gives the team, he puts me on the bench… I turn to Ghoulam (Algerian international from Napoli from 2014 to 2022) and I say to him: But he is serious ?”

Maurizio Sarri only brings in the central defender fifteen minutes before the end of the match. An attitude that Kalidou Koulibaly did not seem to appreciate. “I sat in the locker room afterwards, laughing to myself. I really said to myself: I don’t know where I fell but him, he’s crazy, to be crazy, he’s really crazy. Luckily I have respect and I’m nice because otherwise it could really explode. »
