the
new Quest Pro VR headset of Meta intended for companies has just arrived. The firm has confirmed that a consumer and less expensive sequel to the
Quest 2 (two years old) will arrive in 2023. The news broke during Meta’s latest earnings report, which revealed another $3.67 billion loss for its VR/AR division. Moreover, the losses should be greater in 2023.

“Revenue cost growth is expected to accelerate driven by infrastructure spending and, to a lesser extent, Reality Labs hardware costs in preparation for the launch of the next generation of our consumer Quest headset later next year. ».
A Quest 3 VR headset at a price close to the Quest 2
In a recent interview with Ben Thomson, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, confirmed that a sequel to the Quest 2 will be launched, and that it should be priced close to that of the Quest 2. Based on recent headphone launches Meta’s VR, this will likely come at Meta’s next Connect conference next fall.
The Quest 2 price increased earlier this year. However, it’s still one of the more affordable standalone VR headsets out there, largely because it’s subsidized by Meta. ByteDance, the parent company of
TikToklaunched a competing VR headset at a similar price in Europe and Asia, the Pico 4. It improved the headset’s optics and its onboard cameras, features that could also come to the Quest 3, in addition to a improved processor.
However, Meta might not integrate the Face and eye trackingin the Quest 3, reserving these features for the Pro version intended for enterprises.
