MSI announces the first (trans)portable PC with 4K and 144 Hz Mini LED display

MSI’s Titan GT is back. The Taiwanese manufacturer’s most massive gaming laptop will be launched at the end of CES 2023 with a nice feature to stand out: a 4K Mini LED panel capable of going up to 144 Hz. A first on a laptop, assures the brand.

The Titan GT isn’t the kind of laptop you easily overlook, and there’s a reason for that: its size. Despite a refinement made last year, the device remains one of the most massive on the market. However, it intends to return in early 2023 with even more efficient components, but also, and above all, with a new screen.

As it happens, MSI is thinking big and announcing ahead of CES 2023 that the device will be the first laptop in the world to rely on a 17.3-inch Mini-LED 4K and 144 Hz panel. This novelty will probably only concern the most high-end versions of the product, which should also be sold at a high price. As a reminder, the 2022 model was already trading between around 4000 and 6000 euros. Logically, MSI should more or less keep this price range for its 2023 version. It’s hard to go so much higher anyway.

An overpowered gaming laptop… of which we don’t know much else

Note that apart from its display capabilities, most of the specifications of this new “Titan GT77 HX 13V” are unknown. MSI currently promisesstate-of-the-art computing power“, while evoking the “performance of next-gen GeForce GPUs for laptops“. The device should therefore be powered by a combination of 13th generation Intel Core “HX” processors and NVIDIA RTX 4000 mobile graphics cards.

In 2022, the highest-end Titan GT77 was, as a reminder, powered by a Core i9-12900HX, 64 GB of DDR5 and an RTX 3080 Ti (amounting to 175 W of TGP).

If we will have to wait about a week before discovering what it has in the belly, MSI still says a little more about the device… or at least on its screen. We learn in particular that its 4K Mini-LED panel will be VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified and will benefit from a response time of 3 ms. A high-flying display quality, therefore, for a product that will court the wealthiest players.
