Occitanie: fifty jobs to be filled at La Poste

the essential
The group had planned to hire 400 postmen and women in 2022. Positions are still to be filled, particularly in Toulouse and Montpellier, but also in rural areas.

“The time of the last chance.” This is the title of a senatorial report, published in 2003, on La Poste. Faced with the decline in mail business, the group was then in turmoil. It had to reinvent itself, adapt the role devolved in particular to postmen and women, who have adopted new prerogatives.

“Our activity is changing strongly, sums up Magali Poncet, deputy executive director of the parcel mail service branch in Occitania. We have to deal with the increase in parcel volumes and offer other services, such as meal delivery.”

And today, hiring is going well, in particular to compensate for a large number of retirements. “This year, the objective was to recruit 400 postmen on permanent contracts in Occitanie, including around fifty positions still to be filled, particularly in Toulouse and Montpellier but also in more rural areas such as the Lot. In addition, La Poste has recruited almost as many seasonal workers (more than 380) on postmen as well as delivery and parcel sorting operators to cope with the surplus activity at the end of the year, which is linked in particular to the purchase of holiday gifts.”

Autonomy and spirit of service

Magali Poncet repeats it: La Poste “regularly has needs, in fixed-term or temporary contracts. This can also lead to permanent contracts”.

And the group says it is “fairly open to profiles”. No diploma is required, La Poste seeks above all “autonomy, rigor and a spirit of service” in its future recruits. “We are also engaged in work-study and temporary integration,” adds Magali Poncet. Like many other recruiters, La Poste comes up against the tightness of the job market.

And like the others, she is willing to deploy training for newcomers. Interested persons are also invited to consult the offers and apply on the dedicated website, laposterecrute.fr.
