Togolese fintech Semoa’s WhatsApp Banking platform has been operational at Orabank Guinea since August 22, 2022. The bank thus becomes the first in the country to allow its customers to access banking services via the most widely used social network in Africa from their mobile phones.
The launch of this service follows an agreement signed on March 1 between the Orabank group based in Lomé, and Semoa. Orabank Guinea also becomes the first subsidiary of the group to make it operational within the network.
In detail, bank customers can access digital banking services such as balance consultation, bank statement requests, transfers, mobile money transfers from the platform developed by Semoa. The latter also allows you to carry out bank loan simulations yourself without going through an account manager.
“WhatsApp Banking and all our digital solutions will help us to be among the leading banks in Guinea,” commented Jean-Louis Haba, Deputy CEO of Orabank Guinea.
With Orabank, Semoa is thus consolidating its presence in 6 countries in the West African sub-region. “For six years, Semoa has proven its ability to meet the needs of major banking groups in Togo and West Africa. The Togolese fintech thus supports the 12 subsidiaries of Oragroup in innovation marked by a complete dematerialization of their banking services,” she said in a press release dated August 22.
“Today, we need to finance our expansion, to go on fundraising, capital financing. We defend the made in Africa. We want to become a pan-African champion. But the African champion is not born alone, he is created by political will. We need to benefit from this desire to bring an African company to the firmament”, declared for his part Edem Adjamagbo, CEO of Semoa.
