Reece James, indisputable holder, extends at Chelsea until 2028! Excellent news for the London club.
Chelsea England international defender Reece James has signed a new contract with the London club until 2028, the Blues announced on Monday.
Arrived at the age of six at the club, James (22 years old, 13 caps) established himself in the team under the orders of Frank Lampard and he has been an important element since Thomas Tuchel took the reins. “His talent, the quality of his crosses, his positioning and his athletic qualities make him as comfortable in the middle as in a central defense with three, or as a piston or full-back“, underlined the club in its press release.
“We are delighted to give Reece this new long-term contract at Chelsea. He’s a great player and a real Chelsea guy and we’re all looking forward to seeing him continue to flourish at Stamford Bridge.“, commented Todd Boehly, the American president of the club. This summer, after switching to the American flag at the end of last season, the Blues were the biggest spending club in the Premier League, notably bringing in the Frenchman Wesley Fofana for more than 80 million euros or even Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, from Barcelona on the last day of the transfer window.
Their start to the season was however quite average with 10 points taken over the first 6 days and a 6th place in the standings.
