Developer Steven Troughton-Smith has indeed discovered that iOS 16.1 and tvOS 16.1 support Nintendo’s Switch SNES controllers, a modern take on classic models with wireless connectivity and a USB-C port for charging.

In his tweet including a demonstration video of this feature, Steven Troughton-Smith explains that he is also convinced that Apple platforms now also support N64 and NES controllers for the Switch. MacStories has done its own testing and confirms that SNES controllers work with iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura. In addition, the blog has also managed to use a modern N64 controller with Apple devices. These controllers appear in the settings Bluetooth when they are in pairing mode like any other Bluetooth-enabled device.
