Seven people were shot dead by a group of thugs who tried to attack chicken feet vendors in Johannesburg, South African police said on Sunday. Four other people were injured and hospitalized following the incident which happened overnight in the popular area of Finetown, in Ennerdale, a southern district of Johannesburg.
According to a police spokeswoman, Brenda Muridili,four suspects tried to hold up street vendors selling chicken feet», a very popular dish in the working-class neighborhoods of South Africa. Faced with resistance from street vendors throwing stones at them, the attackers retreated, then returned armed and began shooting indiscriminately at the chicken feet vendors and their customers, the policewoman said.
