The group stages of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) ended on Tuesday evening with Niger qualifying for the quarter-finals. Here is the table for this next round.
Only eight countries out of 18 at the start will continue the tournament in Algeria.
Algeria vs Ivory Coast:
The host country, qualified in Group A which also includes Mozambique, Libya and Ethiopia, will challenge Côte d’Ivoire. The match starts next Friday at 4 p.m. GMT. The North Africans are determined to make this second participation a historic tournament.
Opposite, the West Africans finished second in their Group B behind Senegal. The Ivorians outclassed Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. They are looking to do better this year than their third place finish in 2016.
Senegal vs Mauritania:
On Friday evening, at 7 p.m. GMT, Senegal challenges Mauritania. Leaders of their Group B, the Senegalese will challenge Mauritania. The Mauritanians finished first in Group D ahead of Angola and Mali. A West African derby that promises to be rather interesting.
Madagascar v Mozambique:
For its first at this level of the CHAN, Madagascar meets another outsider. The Malagasy finished first in Group C, ahead of Ghana and Sudan. An East African derby is eagerly awaited in the COSAFA zone against Mozambique next Saturday from 4 p.m. GMT.
Niger v Ghana:
Niger, one of CHAN’s regulars, will face another regular in the competition. They qualified in extremis in front of great nations like Cameroon and Congo. Another thrilling shock is also announced in the next round against Ghana.
Qualifying as runners-up, the Black Galaxies are determined to top their feat as two-time unfortunate CHAN finalists. The match also takes place next Saturday from 7 p.m. GMT.
