Senegal’s national Olympic football team will complete an internship in Morocco from September 19 to 27 and will play during this regrouping, two friendly matches against the Moroccan selection of the same category, informs APS.
The two friendlies are scheduled for September 22 and 25 during the international window and will serve as the first meeting between new U23 coach Demba Mbaye and his performance squad.
Several expatriates should take part in these two friendly matches which will allow the Senegalese technician who has worked for the last four years at the FUS in Rabat (Morocco) to launch the preparation for the qualifications for the CAN U23. This competition will take place in June 2023 in Morocco.
It is at the end of this African Cup of Nations that the African representatives for the men’s football tournament of the Olympic Games in Paris (France) in 2024, will be known. From reliable sources, 24 players will be summoned for this first internship of the Olympic team exempted from the preliminaries in September.
The Senegalese U23s will compete in the second round of playoffs scheduled for October 20-30. Senegal took part in the men’s football tournament in 2012 during the London Olympics (England) with coach Karim Séga Diouf (who died in January 2019) assisted by Aliou Cissé, current national coach.
