Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Redmi, has unveiled this 86-inch 4K TV. If it makes many concessions, it is displayed at an attractive price.
You certainly know Xiaomi for its aggressive pricing tactics. During his conference presenting the Redmi Note 12its Redmi sub-brand has lived up to this reputation by unveiling a 4K TV which, on paper, looks like excellent value for money. This is the Redmi X86.
As the name suggests, it’s an 86-inch slab, or 1.92m by 1.1m. If Xiaomi did not specify on which technology it was based, we expect refreshed LCD in 120 Hz MEMC. Xiaomi promises a panel with an average delta E around 3, i.e. impeccable color fidelity. It will of course be necessary to wait for the tests to decide on this point, given that the values put forward by the manufacturers can sometimes be far removed from our own tests.
Small technical sheet and low price
The Redmi X86 has a 97.3% screen-to-body ratio and two HDMI 2.1 ports. It also incorporates 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory. The minimum of the minimum to lower the price as low as possible.
To complete the tour of the owner, let’s mention the presence of two speakers of 10 watts each, DTS-HD compatible. On the other hand, you will have to skip the Dolby Atmos, as well as any form of HDR (nor Dolby Vision or HDR 10+).
The concessions are therefore present, but this is reflected in the price. The Redmi X86 indeed costs 4999 yuan, or around 690 euros excluding tax. We do not know for the moment if Xiaomi intends to release it in France or at what price.
